The Role and Your Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean of School, the Lecturer will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to Health, Physical Education and Sport.
They will carry out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities.
The lecturer is expected to be able to develop new courseware and teach at tertiary level in combination of the following areas: Health & Physical Education Curriculum, Methods for preparing pre-service HPE teachers, sport education, and exercise science.
The Lecturer will also be expected to actively participate and contribute to the success of program accreditation requirements and professional standards, promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.
They will be required to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area and carry out course coordination.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including using innovative, flexible and stimulating course materials for online/face-to-face delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
You will also be required to develop, promote and deliver high quality HPE and/or exercise science courses in area(s) of expertise.
The courses must align with Victorian Institute of Teaching accreditation requirements and professional standards, University and quality assurance requirements.
Furthermore, your demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning will be essential to your success in this role.
Mandatory: The successful applicant must have a completed PhD in a relevant discipline and a recognised teaching qualification together with recent experience appropriate to the Australian School sector.
